Today, Cisneros leads a fulfilling life teaching a new generation of dancers. She has taught at Kansas City Ballet for summer intensive courses, Boston Ballet School, and taken on roles as Principal of Boston Ballet’s North Shore Studio and Artistic Director of The National Dance Institute of New Mexico. Since then she has remained at The Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy in Salt Lake City, Utah as Director. By teaching, Evelyn Cisneros is able to carry on her legacy as a talented dancer beloved by all and an icon and inspiration for the LatinX community. Her activism, accomplishments, and life story is an inspiration to many and gave hope for Hispanic dancers in a world where their skin color was formerly unwelcomed. Cisneros changed this narrative in the ballet community and has since been referred to as a pioneer for Latinas and Latinos. Her story evokes hope and her drive, power, and determination makes me proud to be Mexican American as well. She shows that it is possible to be successful despite all odds as a minority.
